1,4SIGHT® is now authorized for use on seed potatoes in the Czech Republic. Its active ingredient, 1,4-dimethylnaphthalene, is a naturally occurring compound found in potato skins.

At the end of August 1,4SIGHT® received approval for use in Greece.

1,4SIGHT can from now on be used in Austria with a shorter withholding period (WHP) of 3 days. The Austrian Regulatory Agency AGES has updated the product authorisation of 1,4SIGHT accordingly.

The German authority BVL has published on 10 July 2025 the extension of the validity of the product authorisation of 1,4SIGHT in Germany until 30 November 2028.

The active substance approval of 1,4-dimethylnaphthalene is expected to be extended at EU level shortly until November 2027.

Great news for potato producers: Codex Alimentarius, the “Food Code” has confirmed the safety of 1,4-dimethylnaphthalene (1,4-DMN) for use on potatoes.

Following the submission of new data, ANSES, the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety has just approved the reduction of the withholding period WHP from 30 days to 3 days.

The Japanese Ministry for Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) updated food residue standards on March 4, 2024, incorporating a maximum residue level of 15ppm for 1,4-DMN in potatoes.

1,4SIGHT® is now authorised for use in Italy. The Italian Ministero della Salute has issued the authorisation decree on 13 September 2023.
